For lessons, LandShark Skating lets parents join the same class as their kids, Zebra Skate runs camps for ages 5 to 15 with a medal earned daily, and RollaDome All Skate offers courses where reviewers say instructor quality varies, so request a single session first.

The skateparks cost nothing. Southbank Skate Space is mainly for watching advanced riders unless you bring your own board. Gurnell Concrete Skatepark and Bowl has a pump track beside the bowl and suits beginners in daylight. Kimber Skatepark and BMX Track lends skateboards, bikes and scooters free behind a single supervised gate. Pollards Hill Skate Park is for confident BMX riders; inspect the ledges. Sutton Arena is athletics and gymnastics rather than skating.
