Indoor TeamSport sessions from age eight, or outdoor tracks for younger kids
Four of the seven are TeamSport indoor venues, all listed for ages 8+, each with a cafe, free parking and birthday party bookings. They differ in feel. TeamSport Go Karting Dunstable and TeamSport Go Karting Basildon are the two our verdicts pick for a supervised first session, with Basildon reviewers warning that the karts take physical effort to steer on sharp bends and younger drivers may need a lap to adjust. TeamSport Go Karting Watford in Bushey has a two-level layout and boost karts, and our verdict pitches it at teens and adults; reviewers say weekday sessions are noticeably quieter. TeamSport Go Karting Harlow also runs a two-level circuit, our verdict suggests 11 and up, and reviewers mention overbooking and suit cleanliness alongside a warm bar area for spectators.
For younger children, the outdoor options open earlier. Lakeside Karting in Purfleet lists ages 3+, and reviewers describe pit staff walking nervous kids through confidence laps and start/stop tests before releasing them onto the track; the trade-off is inconsistent kart performance, so families chasing results may be frustrated. Rye House Kart Raceway in Hoddesdon lists 5+, with a separate children's track at the back-left of the site. Karting Nation describes it as the training ground of F1 racers including Lewis Hamilton, with a 950m main circuit and a 300m junior circuit, and lists a minimum age of 3.
ADX Karting Experience, also in Hoddesdon, is a different proposition: our verdict frames it for children who have already done rental karting and want faster, more technical machinery, with mechanics coaching throughout. Reviewers report lap times dropping from 42 seconds to 37 in a single session.
Tell staff before the briefing if it's your child's first time: Lakeside will walk alongside for a lap, Basildon marshals give extra help to beginners, and Harlow reviewers say to arrive at least 45 minutes early.
