Brueton Park

“It is a beautiful park if you really love nature wildlife geese Swan squirrels ravens crows.. The park has got it all but unfortunately we do have some very bad visitors with some very aggressive dogs unfortunately just around Christmas time one of the dogs chased the poor male Swan and killed him Unfortunately the female Swan couldn’t leave alone by herself any longer and she fled. I hope she found somewhere else better and safer. Brueton Park lake has no safety it’s very dangerous for the Swans They have no islands to hide. Not safe for the geese or the swans. Not safe. There’re too many Dogs running around off the leash any time of the day and early evening disturbing nature and abusing wildlife. The Council need to be doing something about this. I just hope that the female swan found somewhere safer. She spent three weeks by the edge of the water looking for her mate. It must’ve been so traumatising for her to watch her mate being killed and she couldn’t do anything to help him. It was so so very very sad. The Council has to be doing a much better job to protect the wildlife there to protect the geese abd Swans. If they’re going to be putting more Swans and geese in that lake. I would’ve advise not to what is the point? If they’re only going to die by dog attack. I seen so many bad things happening around the park Young lads smoking cannabis every day all around the park in the afternoon and early evenings, dogs chasing squirrels, chasing the geese, unfortunately the geese jump out of the water to look for food to graze on the grass because they are hungry,but irresponsible dog walkers leave the dogs off the leash therefore dogs are attacking geese,attacking Swan, attacking squirrels. I strongly advised the Council not to release any more swans in that lake or maybe put an island there and also repair the wooden enclosure Where the geese used the rest at night. But now the enclosure has been broken down by the last storm we had will the Solihull Council, please please get your finger out and help us keep the safety of the park for nature and for our mental health and our own safety and the safety of all the wildlife around the lake please we cannot go through that again. Next time it would be a young child a dog off the leash it’s very dangerous. They run around and they will bite. Please do something before it’s too late. It was very traumatising watching a Swan being killed by a dog please could the Solihull Council arrange to put up signs no dogs off the leash please especially around the lake where the Swan and the geese are looking for food especially when they are out of the water grazing on the grass no dogs off leash permanently with no exception. Thank you”

“This was my first visit to Brueton Park but, definitely not my last. It was a cold crsip winters day and the park looked stunning. There was plenty of space in the car park (which was free on the day I visited) even though there were quite a few visitors. I visited here with a friend who enjoys filling up the bird feeders and dropping a few nuts for the squirrels. It was delightful to watch and listen to the lovely birds. It would be nice to have the delapidated bird hide upgraded to encourage the next generation of birders. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will be back soon and would highly recommend this park.”

“This is a great park which is not far from the town centre of Solihull. There is also a nice big car park too with 3 hours free parking. The park itself leads through to Malvern which carries on around and up towards to the town centre. There’s a lovely lake which has benches by the side to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet and the wild life too. Generally a lovely area to walk around and unwind whatever time of year. Recommended”
