“I attended a taster session for my first attempt at climbing and it was fantastic. Damien was extremely helpful, knowledgable and supportive. I was really nervous, but was quickly put at ease by Damien's calm and friendly tuition, and I had a great time attempting a variety of walls. He gave me lots of encouragement and coached me on the correct techniques in a fun and engaging manner. If you are interested in trying climbing but a bit anxious to try I would highly recommend coming to The Ridge. There is a large variety of walls and you will definitely leave with a sense of accomplishment and desire to return! £20 for all the equipment and one-to-one tuition is an absolute bargain as well. I can't wait to learn more!”

“Second time visiting as we live about 180 miles away, which is a real pity as a great place. Staff are very friendly and give good advice. The climbs are great and some have good height as in an old mill. Will definitely be back.”

Housed in a converted mill, The Ridge features an 18-metre rock-imitation main wall, over 120 rope routes across multiple grades, and three bouldering areas — a general zone, a dedicated children's room, and an LED Boardroom for advanced climbers. Taster sessions cover equipment hire and one-to-one tuition. Weekly kids classes run for ages 5+. Outdoor Peak District climbing trips are available when conditions allow.
