The cafe is a genuine destination in its own right — panoramic views make it worth the walk regardless of weather. Dogs are welcome across the reserve.

“Lots of interesting books and a lovely cafe. The centre was built and run by Sussex Wildlife Trust. Expansive views across Rye Harbour nature reserve. Wheelchair ♿️ friendly. Carers, be prepared for about 1 Km walk from car park to the visitor centre, (and it's a walk that could be a bit exposed to the elements...for instance, today it was rather breezy.) Other than that, it's a great place to visit. For wheelchair users there's a decent path, and it's all on the flat. The cafe is wheelchair user accessible as it has a wheelchair ramp, and some room to manoeuvre a wheelchair in the cafe. There were several wheelchair users in (and near to) the cafe today. There is also a pleasant outdoor sitting area.😀 A safe place for children to cycle, with young families cycling around the nature reserve. 😊”

“An amazing place to visit and dog friendly, too. There is a gallery and a shop and a fabulous café with great cakes and jaw dropping views from the floor to ceiling glass surrounding the front and side of the building. Probably even much better views when it’s not pouring with rain and blowing a gale!”

“Lovely, modern centre with a nice cafe, great coffee and snacks. The cafe is elevated giving expansive views of the reserve, the estuary and across to camber sands. The reserve is great for wildlife spotting, dog walking and getting some exercise. Well marked routes of different lengths.”

Overview
The Rye Harbour Discovery Centre is run by the Sussex Wildlife Trust and sits within a nationally important nature reserve.
